The Fox on the Green enjoys a unique location, overlooking the village greens and pond in what is often referred to as “the prettiest village in Essex”. From the Front Terrace and inside the pub you can admire the view, watch the ducks and their ducklings waddling past or simply sit back and enjoy some exceptional dining prepared by our team of chefs.

The Beer Garden at the rear of the pub, was created to allow our customers to eat and drink in the open air, away from the hustle and bustle of the village.

Finchingfield Village

The village was known as ‘Phinchingfelda’ at the time of William and Conqueror and has grown from a small selection of cottages clustered around the Green to a thriving and vibrant community of over 300 households.

Notable sights in the centre of village include the Church of St. John and Baptist, the recently renovated Guildhall, the windmill in Duck End (open on selected days during the summer months) and the War Memorial, commemorating the 27 brave men of the village who fell in the First and Second World Wars.
